Groups
Amherst Island has various
community groups that provide a wide variety of services on the
Island.
Amherst Island Emergency
Services Association (AIESA)
AIESA meetings are held at
the call of the chair. AIESA membership includes current & past
members of the Loyalist
Township Emergency Services - Amherst Island Station formerly
known as the Amherst Island Fire Department.
AIESA's mandate is to
provide fundraising opportunities and support services to the
members of the Amherst Island Station.

Amherst Island Men's Society
(AIMS)
AIMS hold their meetings on
the second Saturday of
the month unless scheduled at a different date due to conflicts. The
calendar on the website will
be
updated to reflect the correct dates. For additional information,
any of the officers listed on
www.amsociety.ca/contacts could be phoned.
Amherst
Island Radio (AIR)
Amherst Island Radio consists of over
130 paid members dedicated to developing a community radio station for Amherst
Island. Please see our website for more
information.
Amherst
Island Women's Institute
(WI)
WI meetings are held on
the third Wednesday of the month. The Amherst Island Women's
Institute is one of the oldest in the federation and was formed in
1900 and currently has 24 members.

Anglican Church Women (ACW)
ACW meetings are held
monthly on the second Wednesday of the month except during January,
August & December.

Island School Liaison Enthusiasts
(ISLE)
ISLE meetings are usually
held monthly, call for dates. ISLE
volunteers run fundraising activities for the Amherst Island Public
School.

Loyalist Township Emergency
Services - Amherst Island Station (LTES)
Fire Department &
Emergency First Response training
meetings are held on Thursday nights.
The Amherst Island Station
provides fire protection & primary medical care on the Island.
The Department has a full-time Chief and approximately 100
Firefighters & EFR personnel of which 14 are on the Island. The
headquarters station is located on the mainland in Odessa, Ontario.

Recreation
Association (REC)
The Recreation Association coordinates municipal recreation activities for Amherst Island.

Royal Canadian Legion - Millhaven
Branch 623
The Legion maintains the
Cenotaph and has welcomed islanders since the closing of the Island
branch a few years ago. The branch is located on County Road 4 north
of Highway 33.
