Amherst Island Ferry Service

A regular car ferry service links Amherst Island with the village of Millhaven in Loyalist Township, 3 km north on the Ontario mainland. Millhaven is 22 km (13 mi) west of the city of Kingston via Highway 33, the scenic 'Loyalist Parkway'. Millhaven also has a direct connection with Highway 401 [Interchange #593] 10 km (6 mi) north of the ferry. (Driving time: 2.5 hrs west to Toronto; 3 hrs east to Montreal; 2.5 hrs north to Ottawa via 416).

The 33-car Frontenac II provides the regular service, 365 days a year.

The ferry runs on an hourly schedule from 6:00 am to 1:30 am. It leaves Millhaven thirty minutes past the hour and Stella (Amherst Island) on the hour.  Please note that as of May 1st, 2007 the fares have increased as follows:

Motorcycle $2.00
Bicycle $1.50
-Maximum vehicle length - 35 feet

-Overhead clearance - 10 feet

-Crossing time - 20 minutes


The Amherst Island Ferry Service is operated by Loyalist Township.
